Evolution of the Divine Idea

Throughout human history, we have usually conceptualized difficult questions in ways that reflect our own human nature - anthropomorphizing.
Thus it has been with the concept of God.
It is very difficult for us to grasp a possibility of divine being that is impersonal and likely quite devoid of the qualities of human nature.
But it seems as though our theological ideas about God have always presented a being or entity that is rife with human characteristics and human character flaws.
Thus it has been difficult for many people to subscribe to such ideas about God: and all too often those who do are plagued with unnecessary fears and doubts, such as; going to hell for mistakes, being judged, and in some way disappointing a supreme being.
This aspect has turned many people away from the theological ideas about God presented by religion.
It is unfortunate, because at the core of most of the religions is a beautiful idea, of an amazing creative force and consciousness of such wonder and awe that it is difficult to comprehend.
And this is just the point, the reality of God is squarely within the realm of the Great Mystery, of things that are beyond human understanding and comprehension.
But this does not mean that we must abandon the idea of God and of faith, for what is reflected in nature and in the universe is the beauty and magnificence of an unseen presence that has projected it all.
The notion of God should remain forever open, to evolve through new insight, experience, intuition, and understanding.
Let us continue on this journey of discovery, always to be surprised and amazed at new realization, and to grow in a deep and beautiful faith about an infinite and eternal source of being that has created all that is and is at the heart of all that is.
As we share in such a collective evolution of divine understanding, remaining open in mind and heart to the countless different ways of conceptualizing and understanding divine being, perhaps we shall truly come closer to a clearer sense of the truth, and through this inspiration- hold a greater value upon ourselves, each other and life itself, giving true life to the most profound and noble idea of Love.
