The Voice of God

The still, small voice within is of the divine consciousness. It reflects the fact that the divine consciousness is present within the very "fabric" of reality itself. The divine consciousness is the fundamental, pervasive consciousness and we all have access to it, as it is the basis of our own consciousness. We are, in a way, manifest receivers of divine consciousness and it is a constant available voice within us. It arises as insight, instinct, inspiration, intuition, common sense. And, it is very deep within us. Subsequently, it is not so easy to access. In order to access and have the best possible reception of it, we must act to recognize and quiet naturally, the disturbances in our own mind. These disturbances tend to act as a kind of cognitive static, that interferes with our awareness of our own still small voice.
The disturbances in our mind are many, they are human, and they usually consist of and reflect a distorted or illusory perception of reality. The disturbances of our mind take several forms such as; ego - a false perception of ourselves as superior or inferior to others based upon superficial criteria such as status, wealth, fame, ability, accomplishment, notoriety, gender, etc. Another such disturbance is insecurity - an acquired fearful visage of and perceptual orientation towards reality based upon past trauma, loss, catastrophe, rejection, or it may be based upon a variety of conditions of neuro-phyiso-chemical imbalance.
Other forms of disturbance may arise from ignorance and subsequent erroneous assumptions about reality that distort our perceptual view of ourselves or others. These may occur in such a way that we may develop an: "Us versus Them," mentality, a view that our particular system of belief is the right or only way of perceiving a particular issue or other such distortions that ignorance creates. Ignorance itself is a natural human perceptual condition that reflects the fact of our limited awareness of a great many things.
So, recognizing and quieting our disturbances of mind put us in the best possible position, (barring brain injury or deformation that incapacitates clear awareness,) to receive our deep voice of reason, intuition, inspiration, or common sense. Basic mindfulness meditation is a powerful tool for quieting and developing greater clarity of awareness. Also, sharing our perceptions with others, who have developed a healthy functioning mind state, helps us to receive critical perspective and reflection to sharpen and clarify our own awareness. This is a very powerful mental clarity supporting tool as well.
In deep awareness, the voice of God is heard - it may be the serenity of a peaceful mind and thus the voice of no disturbance. It may be the the calming inspiration of comfort and awareness of a larger reality, amidst the strife and turmoil of our lives. It may be the blissful awareness of the deep beauty and wonder of life - producing a profound feeling state of gratitude and satisfaction. It may be the indescribable feeling of safety and security from the awareness of the deep oneness and interconnectedness of all of life. It may be the great feeling of relief in recognizing or becoming aware of the inestimable value or one's self, and of the truth that we have a place and purpose in this world, freely given and expressed by divine consciousness itself.
Our own human conscience is another process of receiving and becoming aware of divine consciousness. It speaks to us from the deep awareness of the priceless fundamental value of every being and creation. It is strengthened and sharpened by the development of awareness through teaching of healthy human values, that honor and respect the intrinsic value of life and being, that respects and honors the great diversity of life - not as things to be feared, ridiculed and suppressed, but as wonders that create the amazing richness and variety of being. That recognizes the fleeting, impermanent nature of life and reality, which lends to the awareness of the fact of just how precious living things really are.
The voice of God is speaking to us all the time, not as we would want or often imagine, but as it is. We must develop the "ears" or state, to listen to it, and when we do, it enlightens and guides our lives.
